Each year during the Easter Season, we conduct the Spring Appeal of our L.I.F.E.: “Legacies In Faith and Education” Program. During the Fall Appeal we focus on our Development (endowment) Fund. During this Spring Appeal, we focus on our SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS. We have four Memorial Scholarship Funds:
- The Donna Brock Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated in 2011 at the suggestion of our SJC staff and families. Mrs. Brock served our parish as Director of Religious Education beginning in 1991. She later became the teacher of our school’s Advanced Math program, helping us to grow from one course offered to 8th grade algebra students to a full-time program for Grades 4-8. Donna died very suddenly during Christmas Eve Mass at SJC in 2010. Donna’s love for our faith, for our parish, for our school, and for our children inspired us all. This Scholarship Fund is a fitting tribute to her goodness and generosity.
- The Dick Caldwell Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated in 2005 in honor of a dedicated and longtime parishioner, who was also a school parent and grandparent. Dick was the ultimate Holy Name Society Member who “ran” Bingo for years. We all looked up to him and admired his love of our community.
- The Father Leo Rooney Memorial Scholarship Fund was one of our original memorial funds; it was established following Fr. Leo’s death in 1997. Fr. Leo served as our pastor here at SJC. He died of lung cancer at the age of 49.
- The Nick Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of a beloved sixth grade student who died in February 2001, following a fatal automobile accident.
All four of these funds support our St. Joseph of Cupertino Financial Aid Program, and our financial aid program is a key component of our Catholic Identity. We are called to be a support to families when they are experiencing struggles. Through your generosity we are able to keep our doors open to these families until they are “back on their feet” again. Please look over the enclosed information packet. If you are in the financial position to help others who are struggling, please consider making a gift to one or more of these Scholarship Funds.

Let’s show our furry friends at the Humane Society some love this Valentine’s Day!
Our CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION DAY AT SJC on the day after the musical was also a great day. The Holy Name Society arranged for Santa to visit all the classes. Mrs. Hernandez, Ms. Peck, Mrs. Shiu, and the Third Grade led us in a beautiful Advent Prayer Service. Mr. Jon Manongdo (Mrs. Manongdo’s husband) is a talented musician and youth minister at a parish in Fremont. He joined us to serve as our music minister, and we all enjoyed his joyful and exuberant songleading. We presented and blessed our Advent Reach-Out donations (totaling about $2,750 !!!) to Our Lady of Refuge Parish in the Santee area of San Jose. Thank you for your support of this project.
